Karwar: The officers of the Indian Navy stationed at Kadamba Naval Base helped renovate the Chittakula Devabhaga Government Primary School near here under their social outreach programme.
Every year the naval officers give back to the society through their social outreach programme. This year the officers rendered their service for transforming the government school into a model school. The officers, staff and parents of the school children donated Rs 2.5 Lakh to refurbish the roof, compound wall, lighting system, painting, library and water tank of the school.
Inaugurating the overhauled school on March 28, Admiral General K G Kumar said that the decision to transform the school into a model school was taken during the blood donation camp organised in the school earlier. The renovation started on January 22 and in just two months renovation has been completed by the untiring efforts of the naval officers and the school staff. This is a matter of pride and joy to us, he added.
The new facilities and equipment surely benefit the 133 children currently studying at the school.
