Karwar: State Minister for Large and Medium Industries R V Deshpande inaugurated the “International Scuba Diving Fest” here at R N Shetty Hall, Murudeshwara on January 6.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Deshpande stated that the district had witnessed a steady increase in employment opportunities available for youth due to rise in tourism and better utilisation of the natural resources
“Creating employment opportunity is a major problem. However, the tourism sector offers immense employment opportunities for youth even with minimal qualifications”, said the minister.

“The existence of a positive environment along with the number of activities/adventure/water sports available here are bound to attract tourists. Development should focus on the betterment of people, who, on their part, should support developmental activities”, he added.
Deshpande, along with Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul, Superintendent of Police Vinayak Patil, Additional SP H Prasanna and ZP CEO L Chandrashekar took part in the scuba diving at Nethrani Island.
Nearly 150 members from various states and from abroad who had arrived at the venue took part in scuba diving.
