Karwar: The floods have left the Uttara Kannada district crippled and due to the unfavourable weather conditions, even a helicopter that was arranged to supply necessary commodities to the people returned without making the delivery. Food and medicines were stocked in the helicopter that could not reach due to the bad weather.
Over the last five days, more than 10,000 people have been sent to gruel centres and the district administration is making all possible efforts to help people.
Many more gruel centres will be opened as there are possibilities of the floods increasing.
Due to the weather forecast, a holiday has been declared to all schools and colleges on Saturday. As per sources, 105 villages here have been submerged and several bridges have been inundated, cutting off contact to the rest of the areas.
