ICGS Karwar holds inter-school painting competition

Karwar: An inter-school painting competition, to commemorate the 41st anniversary of Indian Coast Guard was organised by ICGS Karwar here on January 18.

Captain C Swamy, Director of Port and DC Rajat Kumar, IDAS, IFA to FOK Naval base, Karwar were the chief guest on the occasion.

Nearly 126 students from various schools in the district participated in the event. The competition was held in two categories viz. Category I for class V to VIII students and Category II for students of class IX and X. Winners were awarded with trophy and certificates.

Prateek K Hegde and U Shirodkar, both students of Bal Mandir School bagged the first and second prize respectively, the third prize going to Sanskriti G Balrekar of St Michel Convent High School in the Category I students. Among the Category II students, the first prize was bagged by Soniya V Kamble of St Michale Convent School, second prize by Prajwal Pradeep Naik of the Popular New English School, Chendia and third prize by Gagan S Nair, Student of Balbhavan English Medium High School, Binaga.

Vibhav P Kalgutkar, Balamadir School and Raj S Talekar of St Michael’s Convent School won the consolation prizes.
