Karwar: A lady and her new born, who were found in Karwar market area were finally sent back to their native place on Tuesday, thanks to good samaritans in Karwar and the department concerned.

The lady, said to be hailing from Jharkhand, was found in the city in November 2016 and efforts of the Women and Child Welfare department and Jana Shakthi Vedike has met success after they left no stone unturned to trace her family.

Since the lady was conversing in a dialect that the locals could not understand, it took about a year to locate her village. It was later found that her husband had brought her and their new born in a train and abandoned them in Karwar.

After a lot of struggle it was learnt that she belongs to a particular tribe in Jharkhand and then communication was established with her parents.

Vedike leader Madhav Naik has done a commendable job in tracing the native village of the lady and ensuring that she reaches there to reunite with her parents.
