Karwar: A man who remained stranded in a 60 ft well after his bid to rescue a cow went awry, was finally lifted by the fire personnel.

The incident took place at Anthravalli of Kumta taluk.

Yashwantha Lakshman Naika (60) spotted a cow that had accidentally fallen into the well near his house. With the intention of saving the cow, Naika plunged into the well with a rope, but soon found himself in trouble as he could in no way make his way back up overground. Shortage of oxygen in the well left him gasping.

Some alert locals informed the fire department before it was too late and soon the fire personnel reached the spot and rescued Naika.
