Karwar: Gokarna Sri Mahabaleshwar temple has been released from the hands of Sri Ramachandrapura Math and as per an order from the High Court of Karnataka, the temple will now come from the state Muzrai Department.
Accordingly, Deputy Commissioner SS Nakul visited the temple and inspected the documents and handed over the same to the said department on Thursday.
The temple was handed over to Ramachandrapura Math in 2008 by the then BJP government. Opposing the same, the temple priest family had moved court and after the legal battle, HC has ordered handing over the temple to Muzrai Department. The court directed the DC to list all the moveable and immovable assets of the temple and report the same to the court within one month. On Thursday, the DC collected documents, jewellery and other assets and handed the temple over to the department.
