Karwar: Former minister R V Deshpande visited the village of Yarebail in the Mundgod taluk of the Uttara Kannada district and inspected the surrounding areas that were hit by floods.
Deshpande stated that the poor people affected by the floods must be helped as much as possible. He also said that the government must compensate those who have lost their houses or rebuild their houses.
After visiting the Shidlagundi Bridge, which has been cut off from the road due to the floods, the minister said, “The damaged roads are causing trouble for the people travelling to Karwar. It should be repaired as soon as possible.”
Tehsildar Sridhara Mundalamani, who was also present, suggested that relevant action must be taken under the SDRF scheme regarding the cultivation of crops.
Vidhan Sabha member and Congress leader Shrikant Ghotnekar was also present at the site.
