Don’t mix model code of conduct and drinking water issue: DC warns officials-1

Karwar: “After the Lok Sabha election model code of conduct is relaxed, the various departments in the district administration should work closely with the people and no official should quote model code of conduct as an excuse for not completing their work. Since it is summer, the district administration should see to it that people don’t face any drinking water issues”, warned District Collector, Dr Harish Kumar.

He was addressing a meeting of the district administration in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district. He said that money was not a problem in solving water problem but the officials should give the highest priority to it.

"Taking a cue from last year's rain experience, all the officials should get ready to take preventive measures. Due to road widening, there might be some hindrances to the natural flow of rainwater. The authorities concerned should take steps to clear any debris in the rainwater drains. Apart from this, the officials concerned should identify the problematic areas on the road widening site, inform the road constructing company (IRB) and solve the problem", he instructed.

DC pointed out that all the departments should work in such a way that people believe in governance. Assistant Commissioner of Kumta subdivision Preeti Gelhot was also present in the meeting.
