Dereliction of duty: Uttara Kannada SP suspends PSI and 3 cops

Karwar: The Uttara Kannada District Superintendent of Police has suspended one Police Sub Inspector and three other cops citing dereliction of duty.

The SP issued suspension orders to Ankola PSI Omkarappa and policemen Vasanath Naik, Ganapathy Gaonkar and Girish Lamani of Ankola police station for failing to curb illegal activities in their jurisdiction.

The district crime branch had conducted raids on gambling dens in Andle village limits of Ankola taluk. At that time, the locals complained accused the Ankola police staff of not taking sufficient measures to curb illegal activities and gambling dens.

The SP’s orders have come following the complaints and the DCIB police raids.
