Karwar: Uttara Kannada district Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Harish Kumar K instructed the officials to take the necessary precautions to prevent any eventualities during the rainy season.
Addressing a meeting convened to discuss the preventive measures to be taken, he said that if all the departments of the district work together, any incident arising during the rainy season can be handled appropriately. Necessary arrangements to set up helplines and communications with the respective authorities should be streamlined the DC added.
The Assistant Commissioners of the various departments were also given full authority to manage any possible disaster.
The DC also said that priority should be given to saving the people and livestock. “Care should also be taken to protect the property of the people,” he said.
He also instructed the concerned departments to clean the sewers in the districts which have been blocked due to the highway widening works, so that the rainwater can flow unobstructed and floods can be avoided.
