Karwar: “In order to make it possible for all the sections of society to avail the benefits of medical service, a CT scan machine has been installed at the Karwar Institute of Medical Science (KIMS)”, said Karwar District In-charge Minister R V Deshpande on Monday, September 24.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the CT scan machine at KIMS, Deshpande said,”In order to avail the advanced medical services, the public prefer private hospitals. However, those with poor financial background are unable to go to such private hospitals owing to excess fee. As CT scan facility is now available here, people can utilise this facility”, he said.
KIMS Director Dr. Shivanand Doddamani while addressing the gathering said,”The government had decided to provide CT scan machines to some selected hospitals through the Department of Health and Family Welfare. Following which KIMS has sent a proposal to the government to operate the machine under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The government has accepted the proposal and allowed Krishna Diagnostic Company to install the CT scan machine. The maintenance of the machine will be looked after by the Krishna Diagnostic Company only”, he said.
MLA Roopali Naik, presiding over the programme said, “Having city scan facility at KIMS was the dream of the public. As it has realised now, the people can best utilise it”, he said.
