Karwar: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered a probe into a case where a TV channel reporter who was killed in a road mishap was taken to hospital in a garbage truck.
Mounesh Potraj (28), a district reporter of a private TV channel in Sirsi died in a road mishap while he was returning home to celebrate Makara Sankranthi on Sunday, January 14. Hanagal police rushed to the spot and the body was taken to a government hospital in a garbage truck belonging to Hanagal Muncipality. The move by the police was widely criticised in public.
Now the chief minister has ordered a probe into the case and has transferred Hanagal SI. Reacting on the issue, Siddaramaiah said that he had ordered for a detailed report on the same from ADGP and strict action would be taken against the officials involved.
Meanwhile, actor Prakash Rai/Raj has handed over Rs 1 Lakh compensation to the kin of the reporter and several scribes too have come forward to help the family.
