Karwar: The Coast Guard Ship C-446 was instrumental in saving eight lives who were on board IFB Shri Durga.
The vessel reportedly developed problems with the rudder and was dangerously drifting off the Karwar coast.
DD Fisheries alerted the Coast Guard to the situation and the ship C-446 was diverted to the distressed boat. Once C-446 arrived at the scene, the crew assessed the distressed boat’s condition and determined that it required towing assistance.
The crew on board C-446 then requested IFB Gurujyothi, which was in the vicinity, to tow the boat to safety at the Karwar harbour.
