Bhatkal: The Member of Legislative Assembly from Bhatkal narrowly escaped a crude bomb blast, suspected to be an assassination bid on February 26.
The crude bomb exploded in the hand of one Ronald Lobo at a function attended by Mankal Vaidya, the MLA representing Bhatkal-Honnavar in the assembly at Hosad village.
Bomb carrier Ronald Lobo’s hand was badly mutilated due to the intensity of the blast. He was rushed to a hospital and is slated to be unconscious.
Locals suspect an assassination bid but Superintendent of Police Vinayak Patil said, the picture would be clear post investigation.
Forensic experts rushed to the spot and further investigation is under progress to find the nature of explosives employed and the motive behind the blast.
