Karwar: Two Padma Shri recipients and Halakki women-Sukri Bomma Gowda and Tulasi Gowda have demanded legal action against persons who fired at a Hallakki community member at Adluru village in Ankola recently.
The two Hallakki icons, in a press meet said that intense protests will be staged if the guilty persons are not nabbed within next three days.
A Halakki youth named Vasantha was fired at by his masters for plucking jackfruit from the tree on Sunday.
The man, who assaulted Vasantha later, also threatened to kill him by running a lorry over him, it is said.
“Hallakkis will never initiate a fight,” they said adding that such a sad state had never been witnessed by the Hallakkis ever in the past.
