Mundgod: An Anganwadi helper named Shantha Basavaneppa (57) collapsed here during the two-day nationwide bandh by 10 trade unions on January 8 and died.
According to the sources, while she was actively participating in the protest she got exhausted and fell to the ground. Though she was rushed to the hospital, she was declared brought dead.
With this, she becomes the first person to succumb during this Bharat Bandh.
