Karwar: Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ananthkumar Hegde reprimanded the district officials on June 27, for not giving satisfactory answers on the delay of works under Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) in Kittur and Khanapur divisions.
The minister was angered by the unpreparedness of the officials to answer his queries at the progress check meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat in Karwar.
Ananthkumar lost his cool when the officials started blurting out vague answers to his queries. “Why are you so unconcerned about the government work? Is government work just a time pass?”, he rebuked.
Irate over the official apathy on the matter, the minister also asked the officials to leave the meeting midway. Furthermore, he also demanded the executive engineer to be present for the meeting and directed officials not to leave the venue until he arrived.
Kittur and Khanpura Rural Development and Panchayat Raj engineering division officers including Kahanapura Assistant Engineer, Taluk Panchayat Engineer and Kittur Assistant Engineer were at the receiving end of the union minister’s wrath.
