Ananth Kumar Hegde gets anticipatory bail in 2018 communally inciting speech case

Karwar: In a case pertaining to communally inciting statements by the Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ananth Kumar Hegde during the 2018 Assembly election campaign, the Session Court has granted him anticipatory bail, here on Monday, February 4.

He attended the hearing today and also went before the investigating officers.

Speaking to the media, Hegde said, “Pertaining to the statements that I made during the 2018 Assembly election campaigning, I have been issued summons, currently. The Congress is behind all this. I am thankful to the Congress party for targeting me and I welcome any case against me”, he added.

Earlier, on May 7, 2018, in Banasali, Manki town, Honnavar district he had made a communally provocative speech for which he was produced before the Sessions Court judge by the investigating officers.

Hegde’s lawyer said that a case was filed in Manki Police Station on May 13, 2018. Summons were issued to Hegde, few days ago.
