Karwar: The Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition candidate, Anand Asnotikar, filed his nomination papers in the presence of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Thursday, April 4, the last date to file nominations for Uttara Kannada constituency.

Asnotikar led by Kumaraswamy, held a meeting with the Congress-JD(S) coalition members at Maladevi Maidan, before marching through the streets with his supporters to the Deputy Commissioner Office, where he submitted his nomination papers to the DC as well as Election Officer of the District, Dr. Harish Kumar K.

Speaking to media representatives, Kumaraswamy said that the indifference between the Congress and JD(S) members in Uttara Kannada will be solved by the senior party leaders. “Anand Asnotikar has filed nomination papers as Congress-JD(S) coalition candidate and I am confident that the Congress will extend its full support to him,” he added.

HDK on IT Officials

Speaking at a press conference in Karwar, Kumaraswamy said, “I-T Officials are not as honest as people assume. We know about them very well. Even they have been caught taking bribe. Crores of rupees have been seized from the residences of I-T officials also. When the I-T department conducts raids in Hassan and Mandya, they do not bother to even look at the residences of BJP leaders.”

HDK expressed his discontent over his vehicle being stopped for checking in 13 check posts while on the way to Uttara Kannada.

“No matter what Modi does, he will not be able to get majority this time. He will not become the prime minister for the second time. More number of candidates from JD(S) and the state Congress will enter the Parliament and work for the development of the state and the country,” said HDK.

“Anant Kumar Hegde has been elected for 5 consecutive terms but failed to do any developmental work in the district,” he added.
