Karwar: The administration in the state is worrisome barring coastal districts and Hassan, said Lokayukta Vishwanath Shetty warning of transferring the heat on administration to bring in efficiency.
Addressing the officials of Uttara Kannada district in the Zilla Panchayat auditorium, Lokayukta said the state watchdog had inherent powers to bring in changes in administration, while the onus on curbing corruption in the administration lay with the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The top brass in the state and at district levels have been instructed to provide transparent administration taking the officials into confidence, stated Lokayukta and the negligent lot will definitely feel the heat, he cautioned. Officials must strive to ensure government schemes reach the people and at the same time, public have a major role to play, said Shetty asking the people to approach Lokayukta to lodge complaints in cases of maladministration. Cases related to corruption will be dealt by ACB, he clarified.
Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada in coastal region and Hassan district are faring comparatively better in terms of administration, said Shetty expressing unhappiness with the functioning of the other district administrations in the state.
