Udupi: BJP MLC City Ravi stirred political waters with sharp criticism of Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala’s recent tour of Karnataka. Speaking to the media in Udupi, Ravi claimed that Surjewala’s visit was not aimed at understanding public concerns but was allegedly part of an internal money-collection routine within the Congress.
He alleged that Congress has a long-standing culture of monetary exchanges and compared it to practices followed during the Mughal era. “Unless money is handed over to the high command, leaders risk losing their posts,” he said, referencing former CM Veerendra Patil’s ouster as an example of what happens when funds aren’t given to party superiors.
Ravi suggested that the sole purpose of Surjewala’s tour was to secure funds from ministers and leaders to retain positions of power within the party.
Turning his attention to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and DCM D.K. Shivakumar, he stated that both leaders have metaphorically raised their hands in helplessness on key issues such as inflation and corruption, implying that the government has given up on tackling people’s concerns.
He predicted that voters would soon deliver a fitting response to the Congress for failing to govern effectively.
When questioned about K.S. Eshwarappa’s possible return to BJP, Ravi refrained from comment, stating that Eshwarappa had been expelled, and the issue was not for him to address.
