Domestic and international traffic growth

During the period, domestic passenger traffic reached 0.83 million, up 6.16%, while international passengers surged 22.1% to 0.41 million, highlighting growing overseas connectivity. Airport authorities noted that the rise in traffic reflects stronger links to major domestic and international hubs including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.

Air traffic movements

IXE also reported 9,245 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) in the first half, registering a 16.2% increase from the previous year. Of these, 6,933 were domestic and 2,218 were international, indicating sustained flight operations across the airport.

The airport also achieved its second highest single-day traffic of 8,103 passengers on April 12, later surpassed on October 1 with 8,168 passengers, reflecting strong demand during festive travel periods such as the Dasara season.

Strategic importance and infrastructure

Spread over 583 acres, Mangaluru International Airport is Karnataka’s second busiest airport and among India’s top emerging aviation hubs. The airport handled 2.32 million passengers in FY25 and averages around 55 flight movements daily, underscoring its growing regional and international significance.

Operated by Mangaluru International Airport Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the airport continues to pursue digital-first transformation and modernisation initiatives. In July 2025, IXE received Airports Council International (ACI) Level 4 accreditation for customer experience, recognising excellence in service innovation and governance.

Outlook

With rising domestic and international demand, coupled with ongoing infrastructural and digital enhancements, Mangaluru Airport is poised for sustained growth. Airport authorities aim to further expand connectivity, improve passenger experience, and maintain operational efficiency as travel rebounds post-pandemic.
