MANGALURU (Karnataka): The Kavoor police have arrested Dharmaraj (60), a resident of Jyothi Nagar, Kavoor, who had been absconding from court proceedings for nearly seven years.

The accused was wanted in connection with a case registered at the Kavoor police station in 2018. Despite multiple court summons, he failed to appear, prompting authorities to issue a Long Pending Case (LPC) warrant against him.

Arrest following police tip-off

Based on a tip-off, a police team comprising ASI Chandrashekar Sanil, Head Constable Balakrishna, and PC Chandrashekarappa tracked Dharmaraj to Moolki Pakikere, Kemral, where he was apprehended.

The accused was subsequently produced before the 1st Additional Senior Civil Judge, who remanded him to judicial custody until October 29.

Police emphasise vigilance and cooperation

Police officials highlighted that community cooperation and timely tips played a crucial role in locating the absconding accused. Authorities urged citizens to report information regarding wanted persons to help expedite legal proceedings and maintain public safety.
