Kolar, Karnataka: In a tragic incident, a 27-year-old cloth retailer, Naveen, reportedly killed his 18-year-old newly-wed wife, Likhita, using a sickle during a confrontation at his relative’s house in Kolar. Following the attack, Naveen attempted to take his own life and was subsequently rushed to a hospital in Bengaluru, where he succumbed to his injuries on August 8.

Naveen and Likhita had recently celebrated their love-cum-arranged marriage in Chambarasabahalli, Kolar Gold Fields, with both families in attendance. According to media reports, after the wedding ceremony, Naveen took Likhita and her family to his uncle’s house for refreshments.

Shortly after arriving, Naveen and Likhita went into a room and closed the door. Relatives, who had been celebrating outside, soon heard shouting coming from the room. Concerned, they looked through a window and witnessed Naveen attacking Likhita with a sickle.

Family members forced the door open to find Likhita lying in a pool of blood and Naveen also injured. They immediately took them to RL Jalappa Hospital. However, due to delays in treatment, Naveen was later transferred to a hospital in Bengaluru for further care. Despite efforts to save him, Naveen succumbed to his injuries the following day.

The Andersonpet Police have filed a case of murder and suicide against Naveen. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances and motivations behind this tragic event.
