Veteran actor Anant Nag has been named a recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan, expressing immense happiness and gratitude. “I am extremely happy today. I believe it has come at the right time. I am thrilled about it,” Nag said, adding that the public nomination process, introduced by Prime Minister Modi, played a key role in his recognition.

With a career spanning over five decades and more than 300 films, Anant Nag dedicated the award to the people of Karnataka, his gurus from the Ashram, and the state goddess, Bhuvaneshwari. He thanked his Kannada audience for nominating him consistently over the years, making this achievement possible.

Along with Nag, nine other personalities from Karnataka have been honored with Padma awards announced on Republic Day eve. Violinist L Subramanian has been awarded Padma Vibhushan, while Anant Nag and journalist A Surya Prakash have been named Padma Bhushan recipients. Several others have received the Padma Shri, including Bheemavva Doddabalappa Shillekyatara (puppetry), Hassan Raghu (cinema), Prashanth Prakash (trade and industry), Ricky Kej (music), Venkappa Ambaji Sugatekar (folk art), and Vijayalaskhmi Deshamane (medicine).
