Chikkamagaluru: A man who cheated a girl by promising marriage and impregnating her was brought to the police station and wedding was performed after a counselling here on February 2.
The incident came to light after victim’s plight was published in a news daily. The victim Divya (19) from Tarikere taluk had come to Ajjampura with the seven-month old foetus in her bag after she was forced to abort.
The victim bravely fought injustice meted out to her by the man Kanta, a resident of Huchchaiyana Hatti. He had developed physical relationship with the girl, a year back after promising marriage but when he got to know that she was pregnant, he gave the reason of them belonging to different castes, had the child aborted and went missing. However, he was traced and after counselling, marriage was performed at the temple.
However, due to bravery of the victim the incident had a happy ending, hopefully!
