Chikkamagaluru: An undertrial lodged in Chikkamagaluru prison attempted suicide inside the prison. He has been taken to NIMHANS after the suicide pact failed.
The undertrial is SG Satish (35), a resident of Shivani village of Tarikere taluk. He was put behind bars on the charges of murdering his wife on September 10.
It may be recalled that Satish had surrendered before the Ajjampura police with his wife Roopa’s severed head on September 10. He said that he suspected his wife’s fidelity.
He tried to commit suicide by injuring his private part on Monday wee hours. “He tried to commit suicide by tying his private part tightly using a rubber band. He had also fastened a rope around his neck. The inmates came to know about his suicide bid after he started screaming out of pain. He was rushed to the district hospital first. From the district hospital, he was taken to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences in Hassan. He was later taken to Bengaluru as per the suggestion of doctors,” said police.
