Chikkamagalur: The residents with help from the City Municipal Council (CMC) staff finally managed to rein in a stray bull on November 9, which ran amok among the crowds spreading panic in the city.

The bull used to attack people randomly and had injured one person before it was trapped. People cursed the local administration for their inability to neutralise it, despite causing damage.

The bull reappeared again this morning at 4 AM and chased a newspaper distributor, who managed to escape. He rushed to the police station seeking help. People were alerted not to venture out of their homes and all those going for morning walks and Masjid prayers stayed indoors reciting prayers on their own! The bull changed its “hideouts” in quick time and stayed still after a long run, until it traced a fresh victim to attack. Some people decided to gun it down, whereas others thought of trapping it by employing ropes.

Finally, few managed to trap it by barricading the area near a vacant site using tractors, cars and other vehicles. CMC staff assisted the rest in tying the knot around its neck and hind legs. Veterinary doctors tranquilised it before shifting it to a cattle shelter in Makonahalli.
