Chikkamagaluru: After putting up successful security arrangements for the Dattamala Abhiyan of the right wing activists, Chikkamagaluru SP Annamalai would have had heaved a sigh of relief. But, tweets and FB posts by his saffron supporters has put the ‘Udupi Singham’ in an awkward position.
The saffron activists who were heading back to their respective home town after Dattamala Abhiyan at the hilltop Dattapeeth, ended up clicking selfies with the upright officer. While some captioned it as Selfie with Annamalai, some wrote that Annamalai was the supporter of Hindutva despite being an IAS officer.
Noticing that these posts were going viral, the SP instantly issued a statement saying that he is the follower of Indian Constitution and that he does not confine himself to any one religion.
“People do come and click selfies with me, but using these selfies to make a religious point is not acceptable. I am a government servant and work within the legal parameters, all are equal to me irrespective of their religious attributes,” said the SP.
