Chikkamagaluru: A man here was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 1.3 lakhs under POCSO Act by District Sessions Court here for raping a 14-year-old minor girl.
The man has been identified as Satish from Mudugere. District Law Authority has been directed to compensate the girl with Rs 2.95 lakhs.
The incident had occurred in 2018 were Satish had raped and impregnated his own maternal cousin. He had resorted to threatening and subsequently raping her. Once the girl became pregnant, the mother who got to know the crime lodged a complaint at the local Mudugere police station.
