Chikkamagaluru: There was a sense of deja vu after the Kudremukh National Forest Reserve, here on Monday, March 4, evening, after trees in the forest reseve caught fire, because it came close on the heels of the catastrophic fire in the Bandipur Forests. The Kudremukh forest reserve is in Mudigere.
The wildfire was first seen in a small area of Bhagavati Forest area which began spreading quickly, engulfing valuable trees and plants worth crores of rupees.
The fire spread so rapidly that within minutes hundreds of acres was charred and the blowing wind fueled it even more.
Senior forest officials rushed to the spot along with staff who tried to stop it from getting worse, but did not find complete success.
Operations are on to get the fire under control.
Earlier, Bandipur forest saw one of the worst wildfire which engulfed nearly 8000 acres of forest area with valuable trees, plants and animals charred in it.
