Chikkamagaluru: Despite union government justifying on the budgetary allocation to agriculture , farmers in the district linked to Janata Dal (Secular), including coffee growers feel completely let down by the union budget.

Even this budget is favouring large scale industrial houses, corporates and has little to offer to the farming community, they said. Farmers braving tough environmental conditions grow crops only to suffer either in terms of low prices or low farm output. Farmers and coffee growers were expecting loan waiver in these circumstances but the union government has failed to meet the long pending demands of the farming community. The 10 percent rise in the budgetary allocation will not yield much, feel a section of farmers. It is only when farmers sweat and grow crops, nation can progress and its needs can be met but not otherwise, they said.

District JDS Spokesperson Holadagadde Girish and State Vice President H H Devaraj expressed similar sentiments, reacting on the union budget at different party meetings organised in the district.
