Chikkamagaluru: The move of JDS leader and former MLA of Kadur YSV Datta, who is fondly called ‘Datta Meshtru’, to impart lessons to SSLC students through his facebook page has garnered a lot of appreciation.
The online tutorials have become so popular that even Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Suresh Kumar has now written a letter to’Datta Meshtru’ appreciating his efforts.
The former MLA started teaching Math and Science lessons to SSLC students during the lockdown in a bid to help the students stay in touch with the academics as they are still due to write their board examinations.
Taking to Facebook, YSV Datta has shared the picture of the letter and said that the words of appreciation have only come as greater motivation for him.
In his letter dated May 12, Minister Suresh Kumar expressed his happiness that YSV Datta could become ‘Datta Meshtru’ once again.
It may be recalled that YSV Datta has about four decades of teaching experience and had also been running tutorials in Rajajinagar in Bengaluru.
Kumar, in his letter said that he is rather elated to see that YSV Datta has managed to stay in touch with teaching profession despite his schedule and that he is still one of the best teachers.
Responding to the letter, Datta has said that many children from rural background have written to him that the tutorials are helping them immensely.
Meanwhile, Datta also said that more and more people are writing to him and thanking him for using Kannada as medium of instruction.
“This makes me wonder about the necessity of Kannada as a medium of instruction in our state,” he said urging the minister to look into this particular issue.
He also congratulated the minister for various pro-active steps taken by him for the welfare of the department and for the students during the lockdown.
