Chikkamagaluru: Chikkmagaluru Town BJP secretary, Mohammed Anwar was stabbed to death by bike-borne assailants near Vijayapura Gauri canal in the Basavanahalli police station limits on Friday (June 22) night.
Anwar (46), a resident of Uppali, was on his way home when the assailants arrived on a bike and stabbed him three times before fleeing the spot. Locals immediately rushed Anwar to a hospital but, he succumbed to his injuries.
It is not yet known if Anwar fell victim to hate politics or if he was murdered due to some personal rivalry. It is also gathered that Anwar had been attacked on two previous occasions. Enraged BJP workers have demanded that SP Annamalai head the investigation into the case.
A case is registered with the Basavanahalli police and investigations are ongoing.
