Chikkamagaluru: District Police Superintendent K Annamalai on November 6 called upon elders to change themselves to enable the next generation to live in a corruption-free society.

Addressing the gathering at the concluding ceremony of an awareness programme organised at the post office here in the city, Annamalai said, “About 70 percent of our population below 35 years encourage corruption to get their work done by paying bribes to the officials. Corruption begins from home. Children in schools learn by looking at their parents, society and their surroundings.

If the society and the elders are corrupt, children also follow them. Hence, the elders need to be more responsible and educate their children about what is right and wrong,” he added.

He also lauded the service by Indian Postal Department on the occasion.
