Varanasi: In a significant anti-corruption crackdown, Sumitra Devi, the Inspector-in-Charge of Varanasi Women’s Police Station, was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 by the Anti-Corruption Team (ACT). The operation led to a tense scuffle as the officer struggled to free herself, attempting to assert her authority, but the team successfully detained her.
