New Delhi: The United Nations has recognized and awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi the United Nation’s Champions of the Earth award in the policy leadership category for the year 2018, on Wednesday for his efforts to eliminate all single-use plastic in India by 2022.
Five other outstanding environmental changemakers were recognized with a Champions of the Earth award, UN’s highest environmental award, which included French President, Emmanuel Macron, as released in a statement.
Another achiever of this award was the Cochin International Airport for being the world’s first fully solar-powered airport.
