Bhopal: In order to maintain the age-old wedding tradition and protect it from ‘modernization’, some communities have decided to ban pre-wedding shoots and choreographers for Sangeet.
Reports suggest that the Jain, Sindhi and Gujurati communities have taken this decision keeping in mind that modernization would have a negative impact on the marriage traditions.
The decision was reportedly taken by Digambar Jain saint Munishree Prasad Sagar Maharaj, who had even instructed the Digambar Jain Panchayat Committee to take the tough call to ban modern practices. Sources say that the saint has even ordered the community to ostracize those who do not adhere to the decision.
The saint has said that modern celebrations do not fit into their culture and that it is just a new trend. He also said that choreographers have intimacy with women through dance performances for the Sangeet.
He advised the parents not to expose their children to such a culture.
Similar decisions were taken by the Gujarati community and Sindhi Central Panchayat Committee.
A set of guidelines are expected to be rolled out soon by both the community committees.
