Coimbatore: A 19-year-old student, pursuing her BBA course at Kalai Magal Arts and Science College died during a mock drill exercise being held at the college on Thursday.
Reportedly, the drill conducted by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was undertaken to show students how to escape in case of any calamity. As part of this exercise, students, duly assisted by NDMA trainer TR Arumugham were asked to jump off the ledge on the second floor of the college building while people were deputed below to catch them.
The victim, N Logeswari, however, seemed reluctant to take the plunge. Seeing her reluctance Arumugham pushed her off the ledge. Unfortunately, Logeswari banged her head onto the ledge of the floor below and crashed into the ground much to the shock of those waiting below. A severely injured Logeswari was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. The incident has been captured in a video of the training session.
A case has been registered against trainer TR Arumugham.
