As tragic as suicide is, a double suicide is twice as troubling. A pair of class eight students, jumped off a building in Tamil Nadu, in attempt their lives. While one succeeded in her mission, the other having failed in her attampt, is now battling for her life in a hospital.

The girls were said to be close friends, too close according to others. The police have said that they had an “intimate friendship”, considered “inappropriate” by their teachers, which led their parents to have them counseled in the past. It is as yet unclear what transpired at the girls’ school, but they were asked to report to school the next day with their parents.

After they were asked to bring their parents, the girls did not return home, prompting their worried parents to file a missing person’s complaint with the police.
