MALAPPURAM: A tragic road accident claimed the life of an autorickshaw driver in Mankada on Monday morning, after a stray dog suddenly leapt in front of his vehicle. The mishap occurred around 10 AM and led to the autorickshaw overturning.
The deceased has been identified as Kadukunnan Naufal, a resident of Vellila. He suffered critical head injuries in the accident and succumbed to them shortly after. Naufal reportedly swerved sharply to avoid hitting the dog, causing the vehicle to lose balance and topple.
Passengers traveling in the autorickshaw sustained injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Naufal’s body has been shifted to Manjeri Medical College Hospital for postmortem examination.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by stray animals on roads, especially in semi-urban areas where auto drivers often navigate narrow and crowded routes.
Authorities are urging motorists to exercise extra caution and are considering new measures to address the growing issue of stray animals disrupting traffic flow.
