Madikeri: The district witnessed heavy downpours along with thunder and lightning, here on Wednesday, May 22.
The gusty winds uprooted the trees.
The pre-monsoon rain was expected from several days following cloud formation and today it started pouring in the noon. Napoklu, Somawarpet, Kushalnagar, Kudige, Siddapur and several other places witnessed moderate rainfall with winds.
According to the meteorological department, the south-west monsoon is likely to enter Kerala on June 4 and from there on reach the district in a span of three to four days.
Although the department has predicted monsoons after June 4, Kushalnagar is already getting heavy downpours with hailstorm.
Suntikoppa too has received good rainfall today noon.
Nevertheless, people of the district who were burning under the summer heat, have found relief with cool weather chipping in.
