New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has assured that schools cannot decline admissions to students for lack of Aadhaar, it has also implored schools to cooperate with local banks, post offices and district administrations to facilitate the process of Aadhaar enrolment and update.
In an official circular addressed to the Chief Secretaries of States, the UIDAI stated that it wasn’t aware of cases where schools denied admission due to lack of Aadhaar.
It has also warned that such denials are ‘invalid and illegal’, the Aadhaar-issuing body has also said that “no child should be denied admission and other facilities for lack of Aadhaar”.
This has come as a major relief to parents of students who are facing difficulties due to schools being adamant on Aadhaar number during admissions.
