Chennai: For millions of Rajinikanth fans, the wait might finally be over with reports that the superstar might finally launch his political career on his birthday on December 12.
Previously, in August, ‘Rajini Makkal Mandram’ was a precursor to the launch of a political party. Then, The Hindu had reported that progress was made after week-long meetings of district units of the Mandram held during October 5 and 11.
The actor has already said that he was ready for his political jump but till date, he hasn’t given a specific date. The December 12 date too is just a speculation and not officially announced by him.
Prior to this, he had made clear his political intentions in December and promised spiritual politics which would be free from caste and creed.
Keeping this in mind, Rajini Makkal Mandram was started in August and wouldn’t allow any religious outfits to join them. The bylaws of the Mandram also included several stipulations like maintaining discipline, abstinence from anti-social behaviour and addiction to bad habits.
For the past few months, the Mandram has been recruiting members from the grassroots level and many office workers.
This spiritual politics of his has drawn criticism from several parties including the DMK, with its leaders saying that there was no place for such politics in this Dravidian land and he would be just another voice of the BJP/RSS party.
