Polling Officer on duty shot dead at Kandhamal in Maoist attack

Kandhamal: In a Maoist attack at Phulbani area of the district, a polling officer named Sanjiukta Digal, who was on her way for the duty, has been killed, here on Thursday, April 18.

According to the reports Digal was shot on the head and even though she was rushed to the nearby hospital, the doctors confirmed that she was brought dead.

They have not only killed Digal, but also have burnt down Tata Bolero in which she was reportedly travelling and a bike.

In the insane firing, other four officials too have been injured.

The district will be observing the first phase Lok Sabha polls today, amid which this incident has casted a grey shadow over the polling.
