New Delhi: The official Twitter account of Pakistan Defence (a forum dedicated mainly to military affairs) @defencepk, found itself suspended on November 18 by Twitter after they posted an edited photo of a Delhi University student, to promote anti-India sentiments.
The photo was manipulated to show that an Indian woman (standing in front of the Jama Masjid) was holding a placard that read, “I am an Indian but I hate India, because India is a colonial entity that has occupied nations such as Nagas, Kahmiris, Manipuris, Hyderabad, Junagarh, Sikkim, Mizoram and Goa.”
People soon noticed that the photo was a manipulated version of Kawalpreet Kaur’s photo and brought it to the notice of Twitter. After receiving several complaints about the tweet, Twitter suspended the account even after the tweet in question was deleted.
The original photo shows Kaur standing in front of the Jama Masjid with a placard in her hands that reads, “I am a citizen of India and I stand with secular values of our constitution.”
Other than running malicious campaigns against several Pakistani journalists/activists, defencepk was also morphing photos to further its propaganda: pic.twitter.com/qK7ZLQM29G
