“If the nation has to move forward, then we need somebody like Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take the country in the right direction. My expectation from BJP isn’t about what the party is going to do for me, but about what the party is going to do for people of the country. When you’ve 128 cr people actually believing in one man – and that’s our PM – I think they’re doing something absolutely right,” she added.
In her resignation letter addressed to AICC interim president Sonia Gandhi, Khushbu wrote about how a few elements seated at the higher levels within the party are suppressing people like her, who want to work for the party.
Many say that Khushbu was upset that she was not issued a ticket for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and that the BJP has promised her a ticket for the 2021 Assembly elections. However, the Congress party announced that Khushbu was removed from her post as All India Congress Committee spokesperson with “immediate effect.”
Tamil Nadu Congress leader K S Alagiri said Kushbhu’s departure will not leave a void in the party.
Khushbu joined the Congress in 2014, having earlier been a member of the DMK from 2010.
