Kollam (Kerala): KB Ganesh Kumar, four time legislator and former minister has been accused of manhandling a youth and abusing his mother.

The youth, while returning after meeting a bereaved family, was allegedly assaulted by Ganesh Kumar for not letting his car pass. Reportedly, the MLA too was on his way to meet the same family.

The victim, Ananthkrishnan said that he and his mother had to travel on a narrow road where, at the same time, MLA Ganesh Kumar’s car arrived from the opposite direction.

Ananthkrishnan stated, “I stopped the car assuming that Kumar would reverse his car since there was more space for Kumar’s car to go back a little to make way for both the cars to pass through. He, however, came out and hit me and showered abuses on my mother.”

The man and his mother were given treatment at a nearby hospital following the incident. A complaint has been filed against the lawmaker and his driver for the alleged assault. The duo also accused the legislator of using foul language and making vulgar gestures towards the woman, in the complaint.

The MLA has claimed that he and his driver are innocent and filed a counter complaint accusing the youth of assaulting the driver. MLA Kumar is, however, yet to make a statement regarding the case.

Ganesh Kumar currently supports the ruling Left Democratic Front, though earlier he was a member of the Congress-led United Democratic Front between 2011-16.
