Thiruvananthapuram: The Mumbai Police has booked Kerala Communist Party of India (Marxist) Unit Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son for rape and cheating, on a complaint by a woman.
The 33-year-old woman from Mumbai who was working in Dubai as a bar dancer, alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the CPI (M) leader’s son, Binoy Vinodini Kodiyeri after promising marriage.
The woman in her complaint, has stated that Kodiyeri had befriended her when she was working in Dubai in 2008. She said that she had delivered a baby from the relationship on July 22, 2010. According to her complaint, Kodiyeri had promised the woman of marrying her, following which she moved to Mumbai in 2010. The Oshiwara police have filed a case based on her complaint.
She said that her house rent and the living expenses were paid by Kodiyeri for a while but after some time, he stopped responding to her and also financial aid.
The woman said that she later found out in 2018 that he married someone else.
Binoy, however, refuted the charges, claiming that the woman had been trying to blackmail him. Speaking to media, Binoy said he had already filed a complaint of blackmail before the Kannur IG against her. The Kannur police have confirmed receiving such a complaint from Binoy Kodiyeri. According to reports, the Kannur police will soon register a case against the woman.
